Lord Mayor welcomes B4b to the Mansion House

In Business, Local Events, Networking Events

The Lord Mayor promised us a network meeting in the Mansion House and true to his word that was the venue for our final network meeting of the year and it didn’t disappoint. Arriving in dribs and drabs due to traffic, the Oak room was eventually abuzz with people getting reacquainted with their fellow members and meeting new ones too, and all to the backdrop of the lovely singing voice of Hazel Peters who provided the entertainment for the evening.

The formalities kicked off with Robert Murphy welcoming everybody to the meeting and congratulated our members on another successful year for B4b.  Special thanks was given to the Lord Mayor for hosting, our sponsors Dublin City Council, Allied Irish Bank and Dublin Northwest Area Partnership.  Robert acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the steering committee throughout the year.

The Lord Mayor then formally welcomed us to the Mansion House and commended the strong spirit and camaraderie among the group and acknowledged the contribution DCC makes to the B4b network.  Our keynote speaker for the evening was Richard Guiney, CEO of Dublin Town.  Richard spoke to the group about the challenges facing retailers and how businesses can come together to ensure our high-streets remain vibrant and hubs of commercial activities.   His message was clear – while bricks and mortar businesses are under increasing pressure from online shopping it still can’ t match the experience of shopping and socialising with friends and family.

Ed Coleman from The Rediscovery Centre presented the Lord Mayor with a voucher to be fitted for a bespoke waistcoat by the Rediscover Fashion team.  It was then back to good old fashioned networking and some fine food and drink.  It was a wonderful way to cap another great year for B4b and there rumour has it the networking continued long after the Mansion House closed it’s doors!

Merry Christmas everyone!
